Listen, understand, debate
Exchanges around books, arts and major cultural and social issues.
From 20 to 23 August 2026, the Esplanade and the Casino de Montbenon hosted the first edition of FILAA: round tables, exhibitions, screenings, slam poetry, book signings and encounters.
In early 2026, Tidiane Diouwara, founder of the Lausanne Afro Fusions Festival (LAFF), had a chance meeting with Sébastien Milcé, a literature student specialising in African studies, who offered to join the project. As the conversations went on, Fabiano De Donno came on board, first to photograph the festival, then as a committee member.
Formed only one month before the event, the committee set everything up: recruiting volunteers, selecting books with Payot, organising the stages, launching the social media accounts.
Despite the obstacles, we were delighted by the response to this first edition. Thank you to the volunteers, the speakers and everyone who came to Montbenon.
