Frequently asked questions
Dates, venue, volunteering, applications: answers to the questions we are asked most often.
When is the next edition?
In 2027. The dates and programme will be announced on this website and on our social media as soon as they are confirmed. To be among the first to know, subscribe to the FILAA letter.
Where does the festival take place?
At the Esplanade and the Casino de Montbenon, Allée Ernest-Ansermet 3, 1003 Lausanne. Access, map and accessibility: see the practical information.
Do I have to pay to attend?
At the 2026 edition, only the performance “Le Mortier” was ticketed, with booking. The conditions for 2027 will be announced with the programme.
Who organises FILAA?
FILAA is a project of CIPINA (Centre for Information on and Promotion of the Image of a New Africa), a Lausanne association founded in 2013. Find out more about the association and the committee.
How can I volunteer or join the team?
We are looking for people for this year and next: literature, social media, graphic design, volunteering during the festival. Everything is on the Join the team page.
I am a writer, artist or publisher: how can I take part?
Propose your project through the open call. A clear idea and a few links are enough to start.
Can I come with a class?
Yes — it is exactly what we want to develop. The schools and youth page presents our ideas; write to us to discuss them.
Where can I find the books presented at the festival?
In 2026, the festival bookshop was run in collaboration with Payot. Find our guests’ books and our favourites on the Books page.
How can I support the festival?
By becoming a member of CIPINA, making a donation or becoming a partner: all the options are on the Support FILAA page.
I am a journalist: who should I contact?
Contacts, press kit and visuals are gathered in the press area.
