FILAA is a project of CIPINA, a Lausanne-based association working since 2013 for a different image of Africa and its diasporas.
CIPINA (Centre d’Information et de Promotion de l’Image d’une Nouvelle Afrique — Centre for Information on and Promotion of the Image of a New Africa) is an association constituted under Articles 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code. It describes itself as a “think and do tank” for integration, development and cooperation, promoting a positive image of African people and people of African descent living in Switzerland and elsewhere.
The association also organises the Lausanne Afro Fusions Festival (LAFF) and holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). FILAA extends this commitment to books and the arts.
